Noam Chomsky: ChatGPT is basically high-tech Plagiarism

Noam Chomsky, a well-known linguist, intellectual researcher, cognitive scientist, historian, and political activist, has recently commented that ChatGPT is high-tech plagiarism. He also mentioned that using ChatGPT by college students is a sign of a failing education system.

ChatGPT is a system that allows people to ask questions and receives answers on a massive range of topics. It is an example of generative AI trained on vast amounts of data and generates text-based responses.

Chomsky shared his opinion on ChatGPT while discussing the future of academic essays in ChatGPT’s growing popularity. He was in a conversation with the host of a YouTube channel EduKitchen.

While comparing the popularity of ChatGPT with smartphones, Chomsky also mentioned that students gravitate towards high technology to avoid uninteresting classes.

Since November 2022, ChatGPT has been a subject of intense controversy, especially in academic circles. Reports suggest that students in universities and schools are using the OpenAI-developed chatbot to complete their assignments, essays, and academic papers. As a result, many universities and schools have banned using ChatGPT.
