To counteract the frequent fraudulent and promotional calls and texts that users receive, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will put new regulations into effect as of Monday, May 1. All telecom firms must now include artificial intelligence (AI) spam filters in their call and SMS services in order to comply with TRAI’s rule.
Customers who have been subjected to daily unsolicited spam calls and messages will welcome this action. According to reports, telecom behemoths like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have made announcements about the rollout of the AI filter service. Jio is working to carry out the service soon, whereas Airtel has already made an official announcement about it.
Customers will benefit from the AI filter’s assistance in avoiding promotional and phony calls and messages, which will lower the likelihood of fraudulent acts. These methods are frequently used by con artists to defraud unwitting victims, costing them money.

The TRAI has ordered telecom operators to stop making telemarketing calls to 10-digit mobile numbers in order to resolve this issue. The regulatory agency is also considering adding a Call ID function that would allow callers to be identified by their photo and name on mobile devices.
According to reports, privacy concerns are preventing telecom providers like Airtel and Jio from implementing the technology. There isn’t any specific information on this front at the moment. In order to reduce spam calls and messages, Truecaller is reportedly planning to work with Airtel, Vi, and Jio. Customers should expect Truecaller to assist them in avoiding all telemarketer calls and phony text messages.
