WhatsApp and Bangaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) have recently launched Namma Metro’s first WhatsApp-based chatbot QR ticketing service.
The WhatsApp-based chatbot is integrated with Unified Payments Interface (UPI) enabled payments on Whatsapp, allowing Namma metro passengers to purchase tickets and recharge their travel passes within Whatsapp. As per BMRCL, the Whatsapp-based chatbot is the first transit service to enable end-to-end QR ticketing on WhatsApp. The chatbot is available in both English and Kannada languages for passengers.
The Namma Metro official app is readily available on the Google play store. It consists of services like purchasing QR tickets, recharging metro cards, providing feedback, using travel planners to get the nearest metro stations, fare information, and train departure times, and purchasing single journey tickets with WhatsApp payments through a UPI pin. Easy cancel and refund services are available on the QR tickets. These QR tickets are available at a 5% discount off the token fee.
