The World Economic Forum has revealed a working prototype of its purpose-driven metaverse, Global Collaboration Village, where organizations can gather to learn, create solutions, and take action toward the world’s most pressing challenges.
Launched in partnership with Accenture and Microsoft, The village has a town hall and a virtual Congress Centre for future meetings like plenaries, workshops, and bilaterals.
Virtual collaboration spaces for immersive storytelling aim to inspire collaboration, real-world impact, and experiential learning on global issues. For example, in a virtual ocean hub, users can dive into the ocean’s depths and analyze why marine ecosystems must be protected to preserve life on land and in water.

There are also stakeholder campuses where World Economic Forum partners can collaborate with others to shape their presence. In the future, the forum will invite organizations to build in these immersive spaces to bolster learning, collaboration, and partnership further.
Klaus Schwab, WEF Founder and Executive Chairman, said, “With the Global Collaboration Village, we are developing the first public purpose-oriented application of metaverse by building a true global village in the virtual space.”
“Supported by a range of partners from the public and private sectors, the village will use the frontier capabilities of the metaverse to find solutions for addressing the big issues of our time in a more open, inclusive, and sustained way,” he added.
