As a part of Union Budget 2023, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday announced that the center will create three centers of excellence to boost Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India.
The centers will be established in top Indian institutions to ensure that we make AI in India and make AI work for India.
“Leading industry players will partner in conducting interdisciplinary research, and develop cutting-edge applications and scalable problem solutions in the fields of health, agriculture, and sustainable cities,” said Sitharaman in her speech.

“This will galvanize an effective AI ecosystem and nurture quality human resources in the field,” added Sitharaman.
She added that the centers of excellence for Artificial Intelligence will work to realize the vision of ‘Make AI work for India’ and ‘Make AI in India.’
“The Budget brings laser sharp focus to AI-based skill-development by announcing the establishment of three centers of artificial intelligence,” said Ankita Dabas, Chief Growth Officer, Veative Group.
