Aurora, which has been in business for six years, has previously formed partnerships with multiple vehicle manufacturing companies, including truck makers PACCAR, Volvo Truck, and others like FedEx Corp and Uber Technologies’ Uber Freight.
The new strategic partnership will enable the companies to identify the sectors and areas where autonomous technology can make the most difference, leveraging Aurora and U.S. Xpress’ expertise in the subject.
CEO and President of U.S. Xpress, Eric Fuller, said, “Professional truck drivers will always have a place with our company, while autonomous trucks will supplement and help provide much-needed capacity to the supply chain.”
He further added that Aurora is creating new technology for the future of trucking, which is the reason they are cooperating early to ensure they are the first to market with self-driving trucks.
Additionally, Aurora and U.S. Xpress will also integrate application programming interfaces (APIs) into Variant’s platform to improve dispatching and dynamic routing following the launch of Aurora Horizon.
