Numerous discussions have been raised by the rapid development of artificial intelligence and its impact on how we live. Bill Gates, a co-founder of Microsoft, recently discussed his views on AI and claimed that within a few years, AI will “be as good a tutor as any human ever could.”
In the next 18 months, he predicted, AI would even be able to teach kids how to read and write, according to CNBC.
As a keynote speaker at a digital learning conference in San Diego last week, he said to the audience, “At first, we’ll be most stunned by how it helps with reading, being a reading research assistant and giving you feedback on writing.”

“If you merely took the following 18 months, the AI would act as a teacher’s assistant and provide writing critique. They will then enhance our mathematical capabilities after that. The underlying issue with maths is how we integrate into the larger system and getting teacher buy-in,” he continued.
On some standardized tests, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard can currently compete with human-level intelligence due to their recent rapid development. The entrepreneur claimed that while AI-powered chatbots might charge, they will still be more readily available and less expensive than conventional human coaching.
“Today’s extremely good tools would actually improve maths test scores more than we did in the previous 20 years if they were fully implemented. So, I’m not just optimistic about AI when it comes to edtech in general. Even before this most recent development, there were a number of issues that I believe we are becoming more aware of and putting into practise” said Gates.
