The Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI), a research center and service facility for scientific initiatives, is the new home for data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence at Technical University of Munich (TUM). Future data scientists are also trained at the Institute.
The Munich Data Science Institute brings together experts from diverse fields and supports projects that use a vast amount of data.
The Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI), which was established in 2020, has served as TUM’s main center for data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Researchers from many fields come together at the Integrative Research Institute.

According to Julija Zavadlav, “The MDSI has assisted us in launching an interdisciplinary project where we may do research on how Machine Learning might enhance mechanical property models. There are now two focus subjects at MDSI, one of which is computational material design.”
There are about 60 professors who are Core Members of the MDSI, including experts in the natural sciences, living sciences, social sciences, and medicine, as well as researchers in computer science like Stephan Günnemann and engineering sciences like Julija Zavadlav.
The MDSI supports foundational AI and Data Science research in addition to the core themes, which are heavily focused on practical application. By working closely with organizations from the entrepreneurship sector, the MDSI also hopes to quickly make the most recent advancements accessible to society.
