The Citations feature allows users to upload source documents as PDFs or plain text. Claude chunks these into sentences before analyzing them and generating responses with precise citations.

How Does It Work?

With Citations, users can have all documents in Claude. The model can link responses directly to specific source sections, improving output accuracy by 15%.

How is Citations an Improvement?

The Citations feature is available for Claude 3.5 Sonnet and Claude 3.5 Haiku models through Anthropic API and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI.

Feature Availability

The Citations feature is free to use if a user has already subscribed to Anthropic’s standard token-based pricing model. They will only be charged for input tokens required to process the documents.
